Recall of Natural Tan Tan Tofu Panda Flavor Soybean Juice

The product is sold only in California. It comes in an opaque plastic container with no lot number or expiration date.

The recall was initiated by the FDA after it was discovered that the peanut-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of peanuts.

Close to 3 million Americans are allergic to peanuts or tree nuts. The main problem with a peanut allergy is the severity of the reaction. Dr. Scott Sicherer from Mount Sinai School of Medicine suggests that 80% of people with a peanut allergy have had a reaction that involves a breathing problem or experienced a reaction that affected multiple areas of their body. It’s estimated that 100 to 150 people in the USA die each year from peanut allergies.
