A false start for TM in California

In an earlier post, Director David Lynch’s plan to fund the inclusion of transcendental meditation TM in the classroom was discussed.

Here’s an update.

Principal Carol Ramsay announced the start of a TM club as part of a new wellness program that would encourage students to eat balanced meals and exercise more. During the meeting, one attendee criticized TM as a cult, while others complained that the program would be linked to a religious movement.

As resistance grew, the David Lynch Foundation withdrew the $175,000 it had pledged to Terra Linda High School in San Rafael.
