The positive effects of baby massage

Baby massage has a positive effect on the mood status of mothers, according to a recent study that was summarized here.

Now, here’s a review the benefits to the baby, based on the published medical literature.

Overall, it appears that infant massage reduces crying and improves sleep and relaxation. There’s also a beneficial effect on physiological processes, including several hormones involved in the stress response. In addition, it improves interactions between the mother and child.

There are lots of things that massage doesn’t do. But wouldn’t you agree that the benefits listed above are sufficient to recommend infant massage by all mothers, fathers, grandparents, siblings, godparents, ??

Have I missed anyone?
