Consumer Alert: Steam dietary supplement
The FDA has told Nutracoastal Trading LLC to recall its dietary supplement product called Steam.
Lab analysis revealed that the product contains sulfoaildenafil, an analog of sildenafil (Viagra), which is used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence).
The bottom line?
Sulfoaildenafil may interact with nitrate drugs such as nitroglycerin and lower blood pressure to dangerous levels. It may cause side effects, such as headaches and flushing.
People who use Steam should stop taking it and contact their physician if they have experienced any problems that may be related to taking this product.
Since 2006, this blog has posted 13 reports on other similarly contaminated “natural” products to treat impotence.
